The American Optometric Association emphasizes importance of comprehensive eye exams during National Glaucoma Awareness Month

Glaucoma can strike without pain or other symptoms and is a leading cause of blindness in the United States. According to the American Optometric Association (AOA), early detection and treatment is critical to maintain healthy vision and protect the eyes from the effects of potentially blinding diseases, such as glaucoma.

Summer is winding down again and it is time to think about all our children's back to school needs. In the rush to get new school clothes and homework supplies, be sure to remember that all of these school preparations will be wasted if your children cannot see clearly. Since most learning is processed visually, a child that has difficulty seeing clearly will have extreme difficulty learning and exceling at school. I see it multiple times a day. Patients come to our office to pick up their new pairs of eyewear and when they put them on, their faces light up. They can suddenly see all they have been missing!
